OBOL Achieves Near-Perfect 95% Rating in Token Transparency Framework

The OBOL token scored a 38/40 rating in Blockworks’ Token Transparency Framework.

The OBOL token launched in May 2025 to decentralize the Obol Collective. OBOL serves as the Schelling point for the Obol Collective and Obol Distributed Validators, the technology that will usher in the end game of Ethereum staking.

Overseen by the Obol Association, OBOL has upheld best-in-class transparency from the outset. The token is used to govern the Obol Collective, fund key operations, and incentivize participation in the project. Perhaps most notably, OBOL incentivizes Distributed Validator adoption as DV users continuously receive rewards, while token holders can earn rewards with stOBOL for participating in key votes that impact Obol’s future.

The Obol Association has been busy shipping this summer. Recent updates include the Delegate Reputation Score to improve governance and exciting DeFi integrations we’ll be announcing soon. Meanwhile, DV Labs continues to advance the staking landscape with killer products like the upcoming Obol Validator Manager as more and more major institutional players like Liquid Collective integrate Obol DVs into their infrastructure. The Obol Association and DV Labs are both shipping to bring value back to the OBOL community.

Today we are also proud to announce OBOL’s participation in the fifth cohort of the Token Transparency Framework by Blockworks. With a score of 38/40, OBOL ranks as one of the best-rated tokens in the framework to date.

The Token Transparency Framework

Launched by Blockworks in June 2025, the Token Transparency Framework aims to establish fair disclosure standards for tokens. It was created to address a longstanding history of opacity in token markets.

The framework evaluates tokens on a variety of criteria with a focus on transparency, reporting, and disclosures. Areas covered include:

  • Supply schedules
  • Market maker and exchange listing deals
  • Advisory billings
  • The airdrop process
  • Future issuance plans
  • Activity linked to team members and insiders
  • Foundation token allocations
  • Offchain entity structures

Participants in the framework include top-tier projects like Aerodrome, Morpho, and ether.fi. Each project scored between 35 and 40.

OBOL as a Professional-Grade Asset

Each criterion is ranked weighted between 0 and 3 with a maximum possible score of 40. OBOL scored 38/40, equating to a 95% rating.

OBOL was awarded the maximum score in transparency around market maker deals and exchange listings, reporting on future issuance and rewards, sharing updates with existing token holders, and distributing information about prior token sales and fundraising.

The audit result is a recognition that OBOL takes measures to maintain transparency where many other projects fall short. This also highlights OBOL’s position as a professional-grade asset with a sustainable, promising future ahead.

To improve on our current progress, the Obol Association is also planning to make additional disclosures in the future, including regular reports on income and operational expenses.

How OBOL Fits Into the Staking End Game

OBOL’s 95% score indicates that we are setting an exemplary standard in transparency and making key information public. What’s more, we have some new reporting protocols to introduce to improve on our current progress.

It’s also worth reiterating that the framework is only designed to focus on transparency. Obol is on the right track when it comes to reporting to the public, but we also believe that OBOL offers strong fundamentals with two teams dedicated to building for the long haul.

Ethereum is evolving and its growing popularity among institutions has been one of the most important stories of 2025. We believe that this story will continue to accelerate over the next decade. ETH staking will evolve next with the widespread adoption of Distributed Validators and Obol is perfectly positioned to capture the upside. Distributed Validators will be key to Ethereum’s future because they offer unparalleled resilience and high performance. The end game of ETH staking is coming and we will be at the heart of it.
